Yesterday (Dec.25) 2:00 P.M., the
First Press Conference of Beijing International Art Biennale 2003
China was held in HeJingFu Hotel and many journalists coming from
big mediums such as CCTV, CNR, Bright Daily, and Beijing Daily
attend the meeting. Li Mu, the vice chairman of China Federation
of literature and Art Circles, Feng Yuan, the director of Art
Department of Culture Ministry, Liu Dawei, the vice chairman of
Chinese artists association, and other important leaders and well-known
personages from literature and art circles presented the conference.
On Conference, Liu Dawei introduced the circumstance of Chinese
Artists Association joining the International Association of Art
(IAA) on Oct.27, 2002 and the proceeding of preparing for the
Beijing Biennale. He also announced that Beijing Biennale Project
had entered into material stage from now on.
Li Mu said, Beijing International Art Biennale 2003 China got
big support from the Central Government. It was good for spreading
Chinese contemporary culture and absorbing the quintessence of
foreign culture. With the continuously strengthen of Chinese comprehensive
national power we knew the world more and more. The best contemporary
artworks from domestic and abroad would be exhibited in the Beijing
Biennale and it would improve the international communication
to a new level.
Talking about the innovation of art, Feng Yuan said, the Biennale
held in Beijing, the capital of China represented the open attitude
of the country because the Chinese government gave much support
to it. It was rare for the government to do this around the world.
Let the world know Chinese contemporary art holding the biennale
in China was an important way. It must show our vitality, creativity
and cohesion and express the requirement of Chinese artists in
the development of contemporary art. We not only went out but
also took in and established the Biennale "Made in China"
on the international stage reflecting the pioneering and progressing
with the time of China.
