The 10th Beijing International Art Biennale, China 2025 Opens

    The 10th Beijing International Art Biennale, China, (the 10th Beijing Biennale) jointly organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), the Publicity Department of Beijing Municipal Committee, CPC, and the China Artists Association, opened at the Beijing Exhibition Center on December 29.

    Mr. ZHANG Zheng, Chairman of Executive Board and Vice President of CFLAC attended the opening ceremony and declared the opening of the exhibition. Mr. ZHU Di, Member of Executive Board and Vice President of CFLAC, Ms. SUN Junmin, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of Beijing Municipal Committee, CPC, Mr. FAN Di’an, President of China Artists Association, and Ms. Biljana Stankovic-Ivanic,chargé d'affaires ad of the Embassy of Serbia in China addressed the opening ceremony.

    The opening ceremony was attended by Ambassadors to China from Albania, South Korea, Latvia, Sri Lanka, Uruguay and other countries, along with diplomatic representatives from various embassies in China. It was also joined by officials from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and relevant departments of Beijing Municipality, leaders from various national literary and art associations, departments of the CFLAC and its directly affiliated units, as well as experts, scholars and artists at home and abroad.

    Themed “Coexistence”, this edition vividly interprets the profound significance of the Global Civilization Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping. It is expected that, with art serving as a bridge, the exhibition can put the Initiative into practice and become a high-end platform for civilizations in the world to engage in dialogue, one that combines intellectual depth with artistic warmth.

The concept of Coexistence” embodies the Chinese wisdom of Harmony between man and nature and Harmony in diversity. It originates from the same roots as the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and responds to the common pursuit of global sustainable development. The exhibition brings together nearly 600 pieces (sets) of works from nearly 120 countries and regions worldwide, making it the largest in scale and scope of any edition to date.

     The thematic exhibition responds to the inquiry of the times “What can art do? Where is civilization headed? It interprets the profound connotation of a shared future for humanity through artistic language, offering diverse inspiration for addressing global challenges.

    The International Digital Art Special Exhibition consists of four key sections: Reshaping Perception, Reimagining Cultural Traditions, Envisioning Future Landscapes, and Ethics of Algorithms, which form a multi-dimensional, cross-media conceptual laboratory.

    The International Contemporary Ink Art Special Exhibition is structured into the three sections of Form and Concept, Medium Breakthrough and Cross-domain Construction. It not only presents the inclusive temporal dimension of ink art, but also pursues the spatial breadth of the expansion of civilizations.

The Serbian Contemporary Art Special Exhibition focuses on the dialogue among humanity, nature, and technology within the context of social transformation.

   During the exhibition, the first International Art Conference of the Beijing Biennale, themed Mutual Learning among Civilizations and Artistic Innovation, was also held, at which representatives from various countries jointly explored the expansion of art in local traditions and international perspectives.

    Established in 2002, the Beijing Biennale has built connections with more than 150 countries and regions to date, evolving into a significant platform for fostering international artistic exchanges and showcasing the diversity of human civilizations. It has also witnessed the remarkable journey of mutual learning and interaction between Chinese and other civilizations in the world.
