Irresistible Fight/2014/oil on canvas/170cm×130cm

Appreciation:The Greek female artist Katsoulidi Marianna believes that whether it is an internal strife or a life battle, the fight is inevitable. The oil painting Irresistible Fight is a metaphorical artwork by applying the Fairy Tales of Andersen. The images of the painting are lined up ready for an“irresistible fight”. The fighters here become archetypes of the collective unconscious and symbols of human mind at all ages. The mechanized mounted soldier representative of the masculine attitude and the classical dancer representative of the feminine psychology are two main figures who are ready to fight or dance. The toy soldier besides the mounted solider (a replica of the Hardy Tin soldier in the Fairy Tales of Andersen) and the rabbit besides the dancer are cheering up for the two main figures who are about to lead the fight. The atmosphere of fight is deepened by the geometry of the sketch lines as well as the pure and rigid colors and hues.

Katsoulidi Marianna was born in Athens, Greece in 1979. She graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts. Now she is a freelance artist. She has participated in the International Contemporary Art Fair of Athens, 2014 and held many solo exhibitions in Greece.
